2007 90: Knocking in driver floor panel on turns
Hi all

Recently my 2007 90 td4 (45k mls) has developed a knocking noise and feeling in the driver side (LHD) foot panel, when I do left or right turns or drive over bumps/potholes.

I feels like if a heavy tool was in the battery box or under the foot panel sliding into the body wall upon turns.
Under the car I cannot find any loose screws (foot panel, prop shaft, steering etc).
The front springs are perfectly stable and do not touch the body.

Any hints anybody?

Ter

Locking wheel nut key? Wheel wrench? Jack moving about. Doesn’t take much of a knock to sound bad through the panels. Hold my beer and watch this!

Something behind passenger seat

Stone in chassis rails

Trailing arm, radius bush? Panhard?

Gbox mounts

Exhaust rubbers, movement? Cheers

Noises can be very deceiving, I once was convinced to hear knocking from the rear right, but it turned out to be the front left when listened to from the outside.

A good way to locate worn bushes or suspension parts is by chocking a rear wheel with blocks in front and behind the wheel, leaving some 2-3cm/1in of play. Then rock the car back and forth.
I used wooden blocks approx 5cm/2in thick, and it helped me to locate a worn bush in seconds.

Good luck,

Check the steering stops,if one has vibrated loose, then the tyre could be catching on the radius arm.

As sharkey says the lock stop bolt could have loosened or maybe you have fitted wider tyres which catching the chassis. Jeff
