3.9 v8 auto reversing lights
Hi all,

I have recently bought a 92 defender with a 3.9 v8 auto conversion, I believe it’s from a discovery 1 or rrc.

Anyhow, the wiring is scary in the car (lots of joins and dead wires) so I’m going through tidying it up and fixing things as I go.

The reverse lights are on my list - where is the connection point For the rear light cable on the v8 loom please? I can see the inhibitor switch and the cable go up to a plug with 6 wires, 2 coming back and isolated (black, red), 4 from the switch and the loom going up. Does the cable go directly to the ecu? (My ecu is mounted under the cubby between the seats, so the cable goes through the bulkheadj. I assume the reverse light cables plug into the loom somewhere between the ecu and the plug to the reverse light/inhibitor switch, but I can’t see where.

Thanks,

If there’s a green/brown coming out of the gearbox, they should be to the reverse lights, green is a live feed from your reverse fuse.
It’s been 4 years since i did mine and can’t recall without going through a load of paper notes, but thats what i remember.

Someone had used a 7 way trailer wire half way along the wiring, so lots of belling out required, but all sorted, I'd even wired in the rear wiper, washer (added a washer bag in the back) and heated window.
