Should I fit a leisure battery

Firstly, I'm not the best with electrics.

My 300tdi came fitted with an LED light bar connected directly to the battery with a relay, in line fuse and switch.
The motor is only used at weekends so not run much. Recently it has been struggling to start without jumping and i think the battery could be on the way out, I will test it tomorrow to confirm. I have removed the fuse from the lightbar so that shouldn't be drawing anything as far as Im aware and the only other things pulling power when off is the immobiliser and tracker but, this should be minimal.

I have a rear work light which isn't wired up but, I have the harness for this similar to the one that is on the light bar so will try and fix up this weekend.

My question is, assumig the battery is dead and I put a new one on will it be ok to connect both light bar and worklight direct to the battery as they will only be used when the engine is running or, should I get a leisure battery for those items and install a simple split charge system. The latter seems a bit overkill for limited use but, if it prolongs the battery then i am happy to do it.

There is no need to run a separate battery just to run a few led fixtures.

If you aren't much of a wiring man and you have no use for masses of extra gadgets then just replace the battery and don't cause yourself a hassle.

I'd only suggest to quickly check your earths before you assume the battery is totally toast. See if it makes any difference to starting if you use a jump lead between battery earth and your chassis. If that makes no difference try using the jump lead between your engine block (maybe the crane lifting tag on the top of the engine to chassis)

Thanks, I have no need apart from what I have said above so will test the battery tomorrow and if it is on teh way out just get a new one.
