replacing power steering fluid
I've never changed the power steering fluid in the 8 years I've had Gertie, our original 110 TD5. Vurrently done 225K miles and she had 85K when we bought her.

Think it possbly might be a good idea to replace it given the colour of the stuff in the resevoir. What's the provedure for doing the above?

Canada 2000 Defender 110 Td5 XS CSW Epsom Green
Simplest and least messy method:
1- jack up the front end and put LR on stands
2- take cap off reservoir and siphon out fluid
3- turn ignition key to unlock steering wheel
4- turn steering side to side, full lock, then rest when on off side
5- siphon out more fluid
6- repeat until nothing remains to siphon

7- Refill, slowly do the same
8- then restart engine
9- slowly refill to proper level

Note: this method does not get it all out but most say about 80% or so?


Other method is to get a trusted garage to flush and fill the system for you. This will change 100% of the fluid. Thumbs Up
