2.4 TDCI DCU-106 / DCU-102 EGR OFF Winols Solution?

Evening Chaps!

Calling all ECU tuners

I was just wondering if anyone knows the solution to remap the EGR off in our beloved PUMA defenders?

There is a map called EGR lift and im wondering if I can lower all the values to shut off the EGR?

Any input from someone knowledgeable on the topic would be great!

Update:

I managed to find the solution. Doesn't seem to be much interest so I wont do a write up on it.

Feel free to PM me if you are interested Smile

Its a shame because I feel as though the Defender community has one of the most open source / helpful communities out there.

There are non-profit tutorials on just about everything you could think of, except remapping.

It saddens me that there are people out there who will charge >£150 to remap an EGR OFF when this week i discovered that it can be done by changing a 1 to a 0... The worst part is that people keep the information so close to their chest in order to extort money from people.

If there is enough interest I will consider putting together a complete guide on Remapping specific to the Defender and hopefully it will encourage people to DIY and put an end to these overprices practices.

Definitely! I know a little about remapping from having used standalone engine management in the past.

Im using a software called WinOLS to read the calibration file extracted from the engine ECU.

There are many others that can be used some free and others not

I would LOVE to be able to turn off my EGR. I'm just rebuilding my engine and boy oh boy, there was some Censored in there from this bloody system. Nige

Absolutely would appreciate your insight via a tutorial. There is shockingly low open source tuner information for Td5 and Puma trucks.

Digital Kaos is a good source, although the community there is much more focused on speedo “calibration.”

Any updates on this? Would love a guide and to open the world of tuning within the puma community.

What cable are you using? Standard OBD2 to USB running MPPS v13 for extracting and then flashing? Winols for the actual changing of code?

Windows XP, 7?

As sad as you may find it.... that's business... the people (tuners) who discovered these hacks had to do the same investigation you did.
But if your truck dies as a result, you've only got yourself to blame... if a commercial tuner does it, you'd be banging on his door quicker than quick.

Part of my day job is CCTV.... it's easy. but people pay me to do it because they can't do it.

Heck, my wife gets her hair cut by a pro. maybe I should just get the scissors out... it's just snipping after all...

Of course, all a question of toleration of risk. In VW and BMW worlds, there are endless discussions of tuning and tutorials. It would be great for the now aging tdci community to start gaining and distributing this knowledge.

You are more than welcome to cut my hair anytime!
