Td5 oil in red ecu plug but not at the injector harness end.
So yesterday I parked on a hill and had a very spluttery 2 cylinder or so start so I’ve had a look at the red plug of the ecu. It has oil in. No surprises.

But I unplugged the engine side where it connects to the injector harness and there’s no oil in this plug.

I’ve owned the car 3 years and in its service history it had the injector harness changed a few times by land rover. Is it safe to just clean out the red plug and assume the oil in it is from previous leaks?

For a number of reasons I purchased the extendable loom, it now sits above my head in the truck, well away from water and no oil will trav l that far up a loom
Just a thought like,

I did this after it’s first injector loom change

I positioned my ECU between the seats against the bulkhead in my 90. The connectors from the ecu are pointing down. I think that helps too. Roel

Interesting, thanks for the replies, i’ll clean it out initially but it is tempting to relocate it with cables facing down.
Where did you bring the loom up through?

I only needed to extend one off the Tranfer box sensor cables. Not sure if it was high-low or difflock. Roel

The extender loom is long enough to locate it up on my “dog guard” right up the top by the headlining, was about £200 in its day though, but touch wood never given me any issues since fitting

Thanks for the replies. Looks like this could be a job for the future. My slimline subwoofer is currently mounted on the bulkhead but there might be room to squeeze the ecu in there somewhere. Initially i’ll give it a good clean and see how it goes for the time being.
