intersting article SC.. in regard to Australia, there are after market EAS (Emergency Air Up) plug ins
that you can buy that enables you to bypass the modern Land Rovers Air suspension system,
therefore providing a more resilient capability for your modern Landie if the main
compressor decides to kark it.. in Oz, most people touring take a 12V plug in compressor with them for
the tyres, especially around desert trips.. adding EAS is not that complicated and a worthy insurance
premium.. yet another pommie bar steward down under

In many ways, the original Discovery was the best vehicle that LR ever made. More practical that the Range Rover it was based on, not significantly less rugged or more complicated than a Defender and would go pretty anywhere that they went but in more comfort. I covered thousands of miles in many different countries in mine and it was absolutely the tool for the job.

It's a shame that so many have succumbed to rust. Darren

I would say the disco was the only motor that could be up there with the defender, Shame that died off sadly. When they decided to change the direction they were going. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back
