Drivers door check strap issue
2011 138k Defender, drivers door opens too far putting dent in A pillar. Check strap has a type of plunger that seems to be ineffective and its just opening past it - too far.
Which part do I need to change? Is it the whole bracket?

What happens when you open the door is that the curved arm on the door has a roller which is arrested by a spring. Normally it just needs the fixing screws tightening on the pillar.

You need to replace the rubber buffer MWC5759 in the check strap bracket - when the door is let go in the wind for example the rubber buffer takes the shock out of it but deforms in the process which then allows the door to travel open further. They are pence to buy.

Could anyone tell me the rear doors (on a 110 & 130, not the tailgate) PN's that I need. I'm about to order 2 x MWC5759 front ones, but not sure if they fit the rear doors too?

Reviving this thread since I am overhauling my doors and replaced the front and read door stopper rubbers:

Front: MWC5759
Rear: MWC6291

Problem I have is that in the front it looks like these rubbers items (the lighter colour ones) are made of cheese as I can literally squeeze them through the end stop with light force on the door. They fall out all mangled.

I am thinking to just chopping a rear one which look to be a little stronger and putting a small piece of square steel plate behind it to spread the load a little. The end of the little channel just has a bend over strip which more reminiscent to a cheese grater

Has anyone found a better solution for this?

I don't have a solution for you, but I have experienced the same.

Weirdly, I have an issue with just the front passenger door buffer, and the drivers one is fine.

I replaced them both, and then had to do the passenger one again. twice more.
I even replaced the channel/track/housing thing just to be sure, and it's made no difference.

My 4 year old son is often in the passenger side, so I assume he swings the door open harder than I do. That said, the light grey buffers are very soft. I keep meaning to pick up some genuine ones to see if they are any better.

Good idea on chopping down a rear door buffer. I'd be interested in seeing how well that works. It may work just fine even without a steel plate.

Looks like the new guides are not as good as the originals. The hard end stop is flimsy. I refitted an original I have bit rusty but behind plastic so does not matter so much.

I also chopped a rear rubber stop on two which looks like a good fit

All back together and working smoothly. Going to be a little gentle with the doors (never really yanked the doors anyhow)
