Is there a consensus about which are the best uprated rear door hinges to go for? I know there's loads
of discussion about them on here, but I've not found a conclusive answer. My original ones have about had it, but there seem to be several firms selling uprated ones and I'm undecided which to get I like the look of the Defender Upgrades ones with grease nipples: http://defenderupgrades.co.uk/product/land...aluminium/ but equally, as my van is full of my tools, the TMD security ones appeal too: https://tmdtuning.com/shop/defender-securi...cart=20246 And are there any others folks can suggest please? Thanks as always. |

I went for for the Optimill ones. Top quality as you would expect

The price for these is ludicrous IMHO. Got to agree to go with originals and then give them an annual grease......
For security fill the screw heads with filler or hammer in ball bearings. |

Like Roel my originals still work fine, regular grease and a new set of balls and pins every 10 years works wonders.

The Gore ones are worth a look if you want decent quality and added security...

The Optimill team are great to deal with and I like their stuff, but as I told them nicely at Stoneleigh not everyone wants the brand etched so visibly. That steered me towards Gore for windscreen brackets as you get a choice

I have optimil all around and door handles...
They squeak like mad, and I don’t use cheap shampoo etc either, Customer service is good from them tho, inconvenient tho having to dismantle a door everytime I have a issue... is what it is. Also like above I hate having brands all over my stuff, it’s not really noticeable on the hinges in black, tmd ones the branding is an eye sore |

I will need some soon and will opt for optimill as I have the vents and very pleased with them. TBH I hardly notice the brand etching and its no different to having some different colour shocks etc it is still obvious it is a different brand.

Thanks folks. The Gore ones are out of stock until the end of January, but I think they look just what I'm after and they got back to me immediately when I enquired about them, so I'd better change a few more tap washers to pay for them!
