Adventure 110 - Help with screws under the steering column
Hi all,

I hope you are well.

Over a month ago my ignition barrel got jammed and the barrel, keys, locks on all 5 doors of my Adventure 110 had to be changed. Thankfully, I had taken LR extended warranty.

When I went to collect the vehicle, I noticed 2 of the 6 screws underneath the plastic cover for the steering column had not been screwed in. I then found a single black screw in the cup holder near the glove box.

When I pointed this out to the LR technician, he screwed the one I found into one of the empty holes, but I was still left with one missing screw which the dealer then agreed to order in.

The order took 3-4 weeks, and today it was fitted into place.

However, it now looks like the screw size is incorrect as 5 of the screws have a bigger head.

I would really appreciate it if a few Adventure owners could please take a look under your steering wheel column (see pics attached).

There should be six screws - 4 are recessed and 2 are quite visible. Can you kindly send me a picture of each of these black screws, or at the very least let me know if all 6 are identical in terms of head size and depth please?

My suspicion is that the two recessed screws closer to the steering wheel have a smaller head.

I would really appreciate your help to kindly confirm this.

Also, if someone would please share the part number for this particular screw that would be ideal.

Thank you!

Would anyone be able to direct me to the Parts list for the Adventure 110 please?
Some of the items are different to the standard Defender.

I came across a manual online for the 300tdi that mentions all the Part #s, looking for something similar for the Adventure 110.

Thanks in advance. APK

I'm keenly watching this as I need one as well - been missing for some time.

ps. I believe they're the same screws as a per all puma and possible td5's as well?

good luck in finding the answer.

gotta love the dealer. If they can't manage screw out / screw in, then who knows what's going to happen when they're faced with something a little more 'challenging'.

Whilst that is true, it doesn't apply to basic stuff like the steering column and its' screws.

There's a website called www.lrworkshop.com/ that has nice exploded diagrams of the whole vehicle, which should help you track down the right part numbers. Darren

I have learnt the hard way not to assume anything when it comes to my Defender Adventure 110.

Parts have been ordered with multiple dealers and when they arrive they are different to what is in the vehicle even though "computer says...".

When I checked with lrparts there are several screws for the PUMA steering column... PYP500140 / DA608084L / SE105204 / FS108256, but none of them look like what is on my Adventure.

It would be great if a fellow Adventure owner could send me picture of the screws to validate if all Adventure are even the same! Laughing

It is pure love for the Adventure that keeps me going. APK

Thanks Darren.

I am sure everything under the skin is the same, but going by what the dealer says is on the system the interior cosmetics seem to be different.

One dealer tried to put in some LR black screws and when I pointed out the differences, they said the screws had been made specifically for the Adventure. I have no idea how true this is until I see what they look like for a regular PUMA and another Adventure.

... which is why I was hoping for some pictures from fellow Adventure owners.

I will give your link a try, many thanks Thumbs Up APK

Hey

I hope you get the answers you need, but I wonder if being close to end of line build, meant that parts shortages of such things were sourced more locally, or even off adjacent vehicle lines?

The items ordered in may actually be the correct items, and those in yours "incorrect".

Yes, that may be a possibility.

In which case I would rather keep the "incorrect" parts Laughing APK

I had to take off the shroud to sort my self cancelling indicators on my 2015XS (again), so thought I'd whip off the Adventure shroud and check for you. These screws are not Adventure specific. They are the same as those fitted to my 2015 XS. The 4 recessed ones are T25 torx about 20mm in length, the two surface ones are T20 and about 10mm long.

Many thanks for this doublea Thumbs Up

The replacement screws ordered by the dealer were nothing like either of these...

Really appreciate the effort to send this through! APK
