Forum Clay Shoot
The idea struck me after the clay shooting thread in Off Topic.

Basic idea would be an informal shoot where hopefully the more experienced members can help out those less experienced, no formal coaching per se but stuff could be negotiated between people. I'd say potentially restrict it to people with their own shotguns / certificates but if people want to bring a mate to try it out then that's up to them and off their own back.

Having shot for almost a decade the university championships I'd probably recommend the West Midlands Shooting Ground in Hodnet as it's fairly central to the country, has plenty of parking, a variety of shooting, their own gunshop and can cater for larger numbers food wise with the canteen.

Could be worse, in Essex there are never any events or meet ups... not much to explore...

I think it's a great idea, but unfortunately not so practical for me when I already have 12 days out this season - taking an extra day to break some clays with a 6 hour round trip is a bit much for me.

I should point out the West Midlands was merely a suggestion because it's fairly central to the country. If there's more interest from darn south then it can easily be relocated. Equally if there's more interest oop north then it can be shifted up north.

Wouldn’t Doveridge be a tad better, easier access off the a50 between Donnington m1 and Stoke m6?

I’d say the facilities would be better, more parking for the line up of Defenders, as well as it having grouse butts... always fun to line 3-4 people up.

Sorry came across as much blunter than I intended it to. Embarassed

Might as well gather interest first and then see where people are from a nominate a ground from there. People seem to be disregarding it because of the location I suggested initially, which seems a little backwards. Ed
