Windscreen Wipers - very strange.....
Good evening all!

So my windscreen wipers kick in when I turn the key 🤔 I’ve change the wiper arm switch, the relay and the wiper motor park switch; and it’s still happening! Can somebody point me in the right direction to resolve this issue please?

Park switch is the obvious culprit. Have you actually tested the operation of the switch rather than just assuming that the new one works?

If you remove the park switch but leave it connected you can operate it manually to test.

I had one where there was some play in the wiper gear shaft that meant the white plastic bit on the gear wasn't operating the switch properly. Had to fit another washer behind the spring clip to bring it nearer.

As Scotm says, if you unclip it from the motor you can operate it by pressing the operating pin.

With the wiper switch off and the ignition on, the wipers should run with the pin released (the motor thinks that the wipers are not parked) and should stop abruptly if the pin is pressed. If this happens, the switch is working, however it may still be the case that the cam on the motor gear wheel is not operating the switch properly. In this case, try Scotm's suggestion.

The park switch operates by (in the not parked mode) connecting the motor's low speed connector to an ignition-controlled live feed and earth connector to earth, and (in the parked mode) by disconnecting both and shorting them together so that the back-EMF of the motor acts as a brake.

Generally a park switch fault if the only thing that will cause a wiper motor to run when switched off (the motor thinks the wipers are not parked).

Scotm & Blackwolf - thank you so much for this information! I will strip it down at the weekend and test the switch, and the old switch that I took off, to establish where the fault is.
