The 5.0 AJ-V8 is getting rather long in the tooth, first being seen in that displacement in 2009. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if the next V8 we see from JLR is the hybridised 4.0 mentioned in the article.

I'd still rather have a G63 or a G55 Kompressor

The JLR priority right now is new RR and RRS. RRS in particular , and within that the SVR are massive contributors to JLR profits. Get that wrong and they are in trouble. Internally there are concerns about cannibalisation of LR cars , so new models are not leading to conquest sales. Always a delicate balance, between brand devotees who want the latest product and attracting in new buyers. Many on here seem to be SVR owners going to the Defender V8 for example.

Certainly we will see the BMW unit in the delayed RR launch , it will be interesting to see how it performs, more so when it gets to the RRS. You would think if any SVR version is coming with that engine it will be RRS first .

Be sad to see the old supercharged unit go, but times are changing.

JLR could do with simplifying their line up though. Far too complex and must be a nightmare at the factory. Just look at how many Defender variants there are. They cannot meet demand as it is.
