Interesting to see that it actually featured on the cover of the book ~ quite a slap in the face for the poor Rangies.

This was a little before my time, so don't know much about it, but looks awesome. It was the similar Camel Trophy epic images that born my love of LR.

I know it's not "environmentally friendly" to do such things these days but it would do the JLR image the world of good to relive these expeditions! James

^^^ Except that it might not go so well with two Evoques!

But we keep being told the FFRR, D5 and new Defender are the most capable ever! Shocked JLR I challenge you to prove it! James

This can't have been before your time, can it?

and not forgetting the 1st vehicles used on Camel Trophy were Jeeps ~ or more accurately Ford U50's (License built Jeep CJ5's)

Remember this bloke?

Unfortunately they might be most capable but not in woods where all the new LR products are far too wide to pass between the trees, unlike Defenders, Land Rover 90/110/ Series vehicles. Ripping the side panels off your L405 won’t go down well with Land Rover Finance or Black Horse Finance who provide their PCP contracts............ from experience they don’t even like you if you ever take your modern Land Rover product off the tarred road when you take it in for part-exchange and they find mud/dust in hidden places, it really drops the value. Out of 12 LR products I have owned in the last 30 years only one never went off road - it was my 2nd Evoque and unlike the 1st Evoque I never took it offroad because it was so prone to breaking down......... I went in my 90 instead. I’m a great believer in using my Land Rovers to do what they were designed to do - even if they are Freelanders or Evoques which are pretty competent off-road. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come
2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior. Now gone - old faithful, no mechanical issues whatsoever ever but the leaks and rattles all over the place won’t be missed!

Many thanks for the answer Thumbs Up

I thought it was to do with the band Hawkwind, not 100% sure so had to make sure as they were an awesome band and saw them live a few times and got an album or two Wink

Hi Supacat; Its actually a pamphlet of about 20 pages (I think), I'm away at the moment but will try & upload it when I get home. Since 1973...S1, Air Portable's, Defender's, but only my Wolf TUL HS GS remains

Recently came across this, which made interesting reading, especially about the Darien Gap section ~ Roads End to Roads End – Loren Upton’s World Odyssey:
