Exactly, it's a modern Discovery replacement with a few token Defender touches aimed at people who want the Defender name. You are better off buying an older discovery. The whole point of the Defender is that it was old fashioned, just slightly updated over the years.
Maybe I will stay out of this section of the forum from now on. |

I don’t know which designer was put on rear light duty but they are hands down the most disgusting things I’ve ever seen 😂 even if the alignment was a little better it would help.

The more I see, the less I like.
 .
Even if a decently specified 110 could be bought for under £50k, I wouldn't be interested. I wish JLR well with the sales numbers but I don't hold out much hope for them. |

Now you know why there is a roof escape-hatch option. 
Anyway, my opinion of it has gone up. It clearly has enough "capability" to get to its natural environment in the local Retail Park. |

Either it is fitted with steel coil springs or the driver forgot to activate the auto-access mode button for the suspension. Looks like quite a climb without access height ability or side steps in those photos. If it is air sprung then if it hasn’t got auto-access mode that is a backward step compared to Disco5, RRS and FFRR and I don’t fancy the chances of going offroad (I know that’s not the intended market) with the £1200 optional deployable side steps and returning home with them undamaged. Land Rover dealers will happily sell you the Minor Collision Package to remove all the car parking dents - again if you can get out of the thing once parked. Just remember not to back it in in a multi story car park so you have the option to enter the vehicle via the rear door. |

You've got to admit it looks better than a D5. Just hope it rides better on the tarmac than the D5 which rides like a rubber dinghy. Defender 90XS SW

Styling is subjective (Its not of my liking as is the rest of the new LR design language) but its simply too expensive to be a Defender. A Defender was an honest vehicle for everyone and every occasion, not just for the urban privileged. Its so close to the rest of the Land Rover lineup I simply cannot see where the volume sales are coming from. Many of us are feeling sore as i suspect we were anticipating something nearer the practical nature of our cars. If it wasn't called Defender i don't think that i would be giving this the time of day. Many D3 , D4 owners couldn't get on with the D5. Last I looked, UK sales figures were hardly pulling up stumps. The new Defender may just go the same way. If truth be told, brand loyalty is working one way here. We remain more loyal to the LR brand than LR are to the traditional Defender buyers.
