Charging Camping Battery
I have a couple of spare car batteries that I use when camping for charging phones, lights etc is it possible to charge these from the cigarette lighter socket or is there some gizmo available that does?

Put a 12V socket directly onto the battery, then charge it from 220V powerpoint --

You need to buy a decent 12v-12v battery charger. Do a Google search or pop down to your favourite 4x4/outdoor shop - there are plenty to choose from (that plug into your cig socket).
Depending on what type of battery you're charging (normal car battery, OR a deep cycle battey) will determine the quality of such charger.
The cheap ones are probably ok for normal batteries, but you'd need quite a specialised one for the deep cycle batteries, and then wouldn't achieve much more than a 65% charge anyway. They're also rather slow when charging deep cycle batteries so you'd need to be driving around for a good 6 or 7 hours at least. www.ralton.co.za

Hi

Keeping things simple - depending where and how you go camping many sites in the UK will recharge a battery for you for just a couple of quid.
