United Kingdom 2010 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
Swing Away Wheel Carriers
Hi,
I've been looking at getting one of these to fit my 10MY 110XS SW, but don't know which one. Are there any differences between the ones made by Mantec, Bearmach etc. other than cost? I want one, as i plan to fit a 3-4 bike rack which goes over the spare wheel, and which would also put a lot more weight/strain ont the hinges. Finally how easy/difficult are they to fit, as the local garage has quoted 2 hours (£100) to fit. Is this reasonable?
Cheers
Steve

For that weight you would need something more robust than those you mention. Puma 110" SW

Have to admit they do look good!!! Like the fact that they bolt to the rear crossmember and seems to involve no drilling of the rear tub. I won't be trying any off roading with the bikes on the back. Bikes are 2 adults, 1 kids 10 years and one kids 4 years.
Cheers

the new style safari equip one appears to be even more robust than the naka one, and also about half the price.

Dunno who makes them, but I've been fairly impressed with the ones Paddocks sell. Fitted a couple for customers myself. Well made, and bolt to the chassis.

Price is good too. 1982 Wife

Another vote for the Sonic / Alisport one. Slots straight onto crossmember, no weight on tub at all, no drilling and looks like it could carry an elephant. 2001 TD5 110 DCPU in Bonatti Grey
