ZF4HP22 conversion
Hi all

If converting from a R380 to HP22 (from a D1) box on a Defender 90 what's involved in the way of mounting brackets?

Cheers

Rich

it mounts off the t box if i recall? or at least one does. i have done this to two vehicles and used the std R380 gbox cross member and std mounting points both times. you may have to slot the mounting to give lateral movement, not sure on difference in total lengths of combined units bolted up. i was fitting an HP22/24 amalgamated box in both cases (it has a 15mm longer body for the higher capacity oil pump from the HP24 into the HP22 casing. Cheers

Used an Ashcroft kit to fit a 4HP22 to my 300TDi 90 (replacing the R380) and it bolted straight in with no fettling required.

You are not too far away, if you needed to have a look around underneath to see what's what then let me know. Neutral

Thanks guys it certainly looks do-able without too many issues.

Doesnt look like it will go ahead though.

I was going to buy an unfinished project - galv chassis, axles, suspension, 300tdi engine inc V5.

Turns out nothing is from the original car so cant see how I will register it, dont want a Q plate.
