Have you checked for diesel in you oil??
Worth doing as it takes 10 seconds and eliminates this as a potential reason.

Bad earth somewhere I would guess, various earth points on the bulkhead etc possibly easier to run a few new earth cables around and see if it persists.

I wouldn’t start messing with things if you don’t know much about electrics, it might make It harder for the fault to be found. One of my pet peeves with doing electrical diagnostics. When you mean running on do you mean the engine runs on when the keys turned to the off position or you can pull the key out when it’s running? I’ve seen that with worn key barrels- farmers especially that have a million keys hanging in the barrel.

I’d look at the screen wash/wiper wiring diagram and see if anything is common beside the start wiring circuit.

Don’t pull the wiring off the alternator when running very bad idea!

Worn ignition switch is a good shout- also just try putting a jump lead from the block to battery earth and from the block to the bulkhead and trying thant
