As the thread has been resurrected !

I built mine up over a few months from mostly second hand bits from ebay and various MTB forums, definitely a bitsa but it goes well Smile

Well done! Good fun isn't it, and very rewarding when you have completed the project. I don't think I'll ever go to a bike shop and buy one "off the peg" again.

My last bitsa was put together for £88, and it's a pretty good bike (not a patch on yours tho, Shimano Deore and v-brakes). I use it to nip to Tesco's and for winter training. Less worried if it gets nicked Thumbs Up Keep the better bikes for long rides, racing and summer. Defender "Puma" 2.4 110 County Utility (possibly the last of the 2.4's)

what are you getting built, greeni?

953 geared frame to take 100mm forks, double bottle bosses, concealled top tube rear brake routing and old school down tube routing for f+r mech, plus crud catcher mount and rack mounts; all finished off in a metallic olive green with polished vertical drop out = my choice; not that i have thought about it

Treated myself to a set of Marzocchi 55s the other week, they were cheap cos they're purple Embarassed

However they are amazing, I'd fully recommend them to anyone looking for a fit-and-forget fork. Not light though.
