I am unfamiliar with the specific one you mention, but if you have any significant amount of hand breakstem riveting to do, I highly recommend one of the long arm type of rivet setters since this type massively reduced both the effort of setting the rivets, and the likelihood of mashing your fingers. About 20 years ago I bought an Eclipse 2760 with handles about 20" in length and it has been fantastic, the fact that it needs relatively little effort to set rivets even as large as 6mm means that they can be set with precision.
If you have a huge amount to do, then consider a good power riveter, but the good ones tend to be expensive, especially good ones powerful enough to set large diameter breakstem rivets. |

Those long arm ones are the type I've been looking at. I find the single grip types very hard to use if you have a few rivets to do and like yourself, I've trapped my fingers once too often. I don't have 100's to do, so can't justify buying a decent air powered gun. |

I've done a few capings on my series, I find an old t shirt wrapped around your hand / handle works well as your right when it 'snaps' it can flippin hurt
At shows I've looked at ones with a large concertina handle that look like you just push in. Too be honest I find the little cheap one now I use a T shirt ok as its manoeuvrable in gaps and you get to know when its going to 'snap' If you do change update if you find the new one better |

I saw that type Eduardo but I couldn't find many reviews so I decided against it.
In the end I've ordered a cheap twin lever arm Nielsen tools one from Amazon. It has 17" arms so should give more leverage than the cheap single grip types. It only goes up to 4.8mm sized stems, for steel or ali, but that's all I need. At £14 its got to be worth a try. Lots of positive reviews with one roofer claiming to have set 1000 rivets with it before it packed up. I have 20 or so to fit on the dinghies, then I only tend to use 10 or 20 rivets a year, so it should be fine for my needs. Will report back after use. Hopefully it isn't a case of "you get what you pay for"! |

So, 20 x 4.8mm Monel rivets fitted today and the cheap tool has worked faultlessly.
Hardly exhaustive testing, but at least it didn't break on the 1st attempt. It needed a reasonable amount of force to work, but much easier than the hand grip type tools. |
