I used to drive these for work. The 3.2 diesel was a rough old lump, but they could really rack up the miles. We had 2006 ones that did almost 300,000 miles without too much complaint. The rear diffs got a bit noisy, but other than that. No problems. The mechanical cruise control was weird, the throttle pedal went up and down like it had a phantom foot controlling the speed.

The final facelift a few years ago was a nice improvement to the interiorbut it really couldn’t hide what was an old design and it desperately needed amore refined Diesel engine. 3.2l into four cylinders doesn’t make for a refined motor.

Also, one of the few 4x4 where you could run 2wd or 4wd open centre diff on the road. 2wd did seem a bit pointless unless you really wanted to save a couple of pence on fuel. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Had one too.

Rear diff failed, rear drive shafts needed to be replaced

Then the fuel pump failed £3500 for the part, and then fitting on top, plus four weeks to do was the quote. All at 64thou miles. I partxd it Whistle Whistle

I don’t know if yours was an unlucky bad case or not, but we had a big fleet, I think we were Mitsubishi’s biggest customer. The Shoguns were way better than the Disco 3s and on a par with Land Cruisers we had from a reliability perspective. They weren’t used off road much though. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

I used to have a 2007 SWB "4work" as my company van.

Was good until the timing chain tensioner let go and mullered the engine.

Got the big FO pill from Mitz UK; eventually work got a replacement engine for it (my mum now has it) but it's not the same, has never run right since.

The annoying thing was about 8 months after the engine blew, there was a VOSA recall on them to check..,...

....timing chain tensioners

We tried to claim but got nowhere, so good riddance to them.

Mitsubishi Motors pulled out from sponsoring Badminton Horse Trials after this year's competition. They probably feel that they now don't have a suitable 4x4 for the horsey market.

Had a very early 1983(?) red soft top. It was branded Colt. Very reliable, can't remember much if anything going wrong with it, and did plenty of miles through the UK and Europe. Mind you, when it was finally px'd for a Wr****er in 1997 you could see the road through the rust holes in the floor. Got an enquiry shortly after it went because someone torched it in a field.
