new or old?
IF /When I get round to doing a strip down what are the thoughts on the chassis - should I go for a new galv chassis or have my current one galvanised - which appears to be in good condition?

what are the pro's / cons.

could I sell my old one and what would it be worth?

not overly concerned with residual values as she's a keeper.

Personally I'd get a new one. Terminal rust normally comes from the inside of the chassis, just because it looks OK on the outside doesn't mean it is OK - rear cross members have a habit of looking fine then all of a sudden getting some rust bubbles which when investigated become large holes...

Not sure, but recall reading somewhere that you can get new chassis with your original VIN stamped on it? Also worth cutting out the VIN from the original chassis before scrapping it.

don't suppose the old chassis (without VIN) has any significant value?

Well there is scrap value Smile

I expect there would be someone out there willing to pay money for a half decent chassis. I never fail to be amazed at what gets listed and seemingly sold on eBay

As Rashers said I’m sure there is a monetary value, perhaps whichever garage you buy the new chassis from maybe interested if it’s in good condition? 2015 HT XS 90

If you inform the DVLA that you have a new chassis they will issue you with a new VIN number which is not really what you want. If you do buy a new chassis, cut out the VIN on the old chassis and retain and stamp the original chassis number onto the new chassis. As far as I know Richards will not stamp the chassis for you, or they wouldn't when I bought mine.
