Selling my boat!
My Folksong 26 is a bit of an overkill for the type of sailing we are doing at the moment. My wife and toddlers would be better suited to an open boat, something for estuary sailing, bit of fishing etc. Charging through large swells all day around the Solent is not for them so she is up for sale and is moored in Itchenor reach a VERY choice spot if you are within commuting distance of Chichester Harbour Wink

Any suggestions for some kind of sturdy open boat with a couple of sails that I can launch myself for about 5K would be appreciated - even an old wood boat with a thumping Lister/Petter in it would be OK Thumbs Up

Pic taken yesterday - new boat MUST have sails.

First launched in 1991, "superb interior fit out" says the recent surveyors report and a hardly used Yanmar engine. Highly specced and ready to sail the Atlantic. I bought her VERY cheaply so can pass that saving on to forum members, she is a bargain at £6000

Hi Zagato,

What does your mooring cost? The boat looks like a great deal, are you selling the mooring with it??

Sounds like you need to go dinghy sailing - I sail at Netley Sailing Club, half way down Southampton Water, Hamble side. It's a very family club, lots of boats, lots of mums and kids, it's like a giant playground/creche. My kids are 3 and 5 now and LOVE it there. They are just getting to grips with their own little boat now.

Come and have a look if you are interested - I'll take you out on my cat if you fancy!?

Sounds like a great club, thanks for the invite Foggy, my kids are 4 & 6 so similar age Thumbs Up My daughter is not a great traveller either Thud so the Hamble might be a stretch too far - takes 3 stops to get her to Chichester Sad (I'm in Reigate!)

I'm not sure if the conservancy mooring can go with the boat, will check today but it costs £1100 per year and my winter storage costs are about the same although you can avoid these like many do by keeping the boat in over winter which was going to be my plan and anti-foul it in the spring by leaning it against the piles at Itchenor. Many good sailing days in the winter as you know Thumbs Up

Yeah sounds about right. I've sailed a couple of times from the Hamble to Cowes in my Drascombe. It took just over a couple of hours to get there but that was towing with the 109" slooooow!!!
