Mile marker Hydraulic winch stopped working
I have a Milemarker Hydraulic winch on my 1996 90 TDi300 and until recently it has given slow but faultless service and then nothing, it stopped working. Electrics check out ok, there is oil in the tank for its pump and the vee belt is in good nick - it’s driven by an auxiliary pulley - fuse for electrics is OK but it just won’t turn the barrel at all using the local or the wired remote control. Any ideas? The winch was fitted in 2013 so it isn’t that old and hasn’t been overused either. I only wanted to replace the 10mm Dynema winch rope with a new one as the old one is suffering UV degradation Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

To diagnose where the fault is:
Is the motor on winch turning.. You should feel some vibration when touched by hand. That will determine whether engagement clutch is working.
Feel the hoses to see if they have flow, then you know if the pump is working or not.
Hope this helps narrow it down Thumbs Up

Bowrope doesn't degrade with sunlight. It's colour changes but properties don't. Cheers

Thanks guys - I work professionally with ropes and wires so prefer to change what looks like a degraded rope before it parts, it also has signs it has absorbed fine sand or grit after i’ve Used it in Mud and that has started to chew it internally so it is passed its best after 5 years use Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

I would slightly 'crack' the hoses firstly on the solenoid block to check for fluid flow
