1983 V8 Clutch Pivot Pin seized solid - how do I drift pin
Firstly apologies I'm not a regular visitor here , equally I've only managed 800 miles in the Land Rover this year .... this has probably contributed to my challenge.

The clutch pedal stuck down a couple of times last year ... just putting your foot under it and pulling brought it back up and it continued to work.

I had assumed it was the clutch master cylinder sticking. As I have some time on my hands I decided to swap it out only to find the pedal has now seized solid. Nothing will move it (including WD40 - heat - hammer) it went from slightly stuck to absolutely rock solid ...

The pedal pivot pin has seized - it is a 1983 110 and the pedal box has a small nut on one side (7/16?) and on the other side it looks to have a small retaining pin.

I think I can dismantle it by pressing out the pin but is the main pivot pin tapered or can I press it out in either direction - I have access to a press and don't appear to have a lot to loose trying to press it out ...

Any help appreciated,

Chris

I haven't done this before, but I would drift out the pin and try to loosen the bolt.

If it was only a pin then it wouldn't have been a bolt head.

So the bolt came out really easily and must be be for lubrication ... the pin however was bent in the middle and as hard as I tried would not drift out ... and the pin is too close to the side of the plate to get a drill bit in ?? ..

I've been at it all day and gave up and put it in the "too hard pile" ... I've bought a secondhand one off flea bay .. but will keep the old one until it arrives as sods law says this one is going to get to me !!

I'll report back in a few days ...

The main pivot pin is parallel and can be removed in either direction, after the retaining pin has been drifted out It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten
