2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey
Adding second battery - recommendations please
Hi all - I would like to add a second battery to my Def 110 XS USW, and I'm also adding a CB. Can anyone recommend a garage in the SE/ SE London/ North Kent area please who could undertake such a task?

I've searched for Land Rover/ off road specialists, and a couple of names have come up, but I'd really appreciate any recommendations please. Also, as the car is only a few months old I don't want any 'warranty' issues - is this likely?

Many thanks Thumbs Up Simon

Hello Simon

I would say Gigglepin again. At least they will understand your requirements and have the knowledge of working on the vehilcles.

Worth considering including power sockets to the rear and hard wiring in an invertor (i use mine to power my laptop when green laning).

Good luck

Mark

Any auto electrician really. if you go to a so called "4x4 specialist" it s always more expensive.

I looked at all the different split charging systems and the best value and smartest piece of kit I found is from a firm called Adverc. It was 70 quid (at the time, a bit more now) for the equipment and 60 quid for a 110 AH numax deep cycle battery. I got a simple LED monitor for 12 quid and just cracked on with putting it in. the instructions in the adverc kit were fantastic. It's fit and forget, never had a problem with it, works beautifully. It also has a neat feature whereby if it senses that your starting battery is low on voltage, it flips over and uses the other battery to help it.

have a look here http://www.adverc.co.uk/product/801

do it your self its not rocket science i bought a tray from devon 4x4 then 2 batterys

but when you get the batterys get a pair i know the oddasseys fit and optimas fit the tray so i went for oddasseys

took me about an hour to do run them in parrallel or if your goign to run a fridge or such like get a split charge system it not hard work only thing is crimping cables if you need tio crimp them ?

plus you need to make the vehicle eart longer it is so doable though
