Service items whats best
Hi all

What’s the best service items for a puma 2.4? Genuine? OEM?

I’m thinking genuine all round apart from the air filter maybe K&N?

Stick to decent paper air filters. Apart from the fact that the oil on reusable filters can play havoc with MAF sensors, they were proven to be less efficient in a series of tests carried out a few years ago by Pete Bell of BAS. Darren

There are a few threads on here about oil. It’s an emotive subject. Some put the finest liquid gold money can buy.....others take the view its a transit Diesel engine and anything goes...... how deep is your wallet?

Another member sent me these which were really helpful. I then went to the local oil man and got the Comma trade version which is the same but cheaper.

Hello. I use Comma fluids for everything.
https://www.commaoil.com/products/results/91070349
You can get them delivered for free from
https://www.europarts-motorfactors.com/lan...ls-lubo-lu
5 Lires of Comma Xtech engine oil will cost you £22.73 which is a great price especially delivered to your door.
The main gear box oil has to be GL4 spec as GL5 will mess up any bronze coatings in your gearbox.
The Comma Gearbox oil is
https://www.commaoil.com/passenger-vehicles/products/view/550 which is GL4.
Just make out your list, contact
https://www.europarts-motorfactors.com/
and they will get everything for you delivered free.
I service two Pumas, a 2008 and a 2011 using Comma products. You will get other recommendations from other members but the above is my advice.

For the transfer box you need
Comma SX75W-90 GL-5. 2.2 Litres
SX75W-90 GL-5
For the diffs you need
Comma EP90-80 GL-5
The front diff takes 1.7 while the rear takes while the rear takes 1.6 litres.

I just e-mailed Europarts motor factors with my list. They sent an invoice, I paid and it was delivered by courier.
Incidentally instead of buying seven litres of engine oil buy 2x5 litres as it is cheaper and you will have three litres for the next service. I buy 3x5 litres which gives me enough for two oil changes.
For filters I use advanced motor factors
https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/service-...-209-c.asp
I use Mahle filters.
oil filter https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/lr030778...-770-p.asp
Air filter https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/phe50006...1084-p.asp
fuel filter https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/wji50004...1085-p.asp
The fuel filter is great value. Buy two or three filters of each kind at a time. I buy for five services ahead!
Hope the above helps.

Awesome info, and some great prices on the Advanced motor factors site. full service kit of filters £39!!

popped to my local factors today and picked up the Coma oil £18 for 5 litres and ep90 £14 for 5L

Thanks for the tip on the K&N filter, I've always been a fan of K&N but keep it simple stupid when driving in the Sahara!

If you have the space, why not buy oil in 50 gallon drums and see the price really drop?
Similarly, buy filters in packs of 20 It is not a Defender, it is a One_Ten
