2003 Defender 90 2.5 TD XS CSW Bonatti Grey
Exhaust leak series 2
Hi I have tracked down my tictic noise when driving to a hole in the exhaust...on the weld where the upright part of the exhaust joins the manifold. The hole is just below where the upright part is attached to the horizontal part, that bolts onto the exhaust manifold.

It looks to me like there is some sort of metal collar around the top of the exhaust vertical that joins it to the manifold and this is where the leak is.

So crossing fingers that the above makes some degree of sense, a couple of questions:
- what can I do to fix the hole in the weld. Does it require welding in which case I’ll need to take to the garage, or is there another solution that I can use. Have seen various exhaust leak putty’s on the interweb but no idea if any good etc.

-if I keep driving for the next few months (weekend use only) is this likely to cause any damage?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.
