Having read the blurb on their website, it specifically says they were designed so that there is no need to drill the body. It looks like the bolts go through the space that would usually be taken up by the rubber seal, which these parts replace completely. Darren

Yet again I’ve answered my own question:
Yes, you do need to remove the window, and yes the bolts fit in the gap - no drilling. Not as easy removing them as it looks compared the videos of guys breaking in via the back, but I didn’t want to damage anything. Quote straightforward, if a little fiddly to fix in once the window is out. However, you do need to remove the side trim (if fitted, mine’s a CSW) to secure the three outboard nuts. That’s a work in progress at the moment! |

The top middle and inboard nuts are easy enough to tighten, however the outboard 3 are covered by the trim. after a significant amount of swearing etc, i managed to loosen the side trim, and get 2 nuts secured (I didnt have the room to do the washer as well, as I needed a third hand to secure it.) the 3rd (lowest) nut on that side was beyond me, as it is obscured by the seat-belt inertia reel mechanism.
Whilst the guards look good, and should do the job, I wouldn't recommend for a station wagon, unless all the trim is coming out. |

Has anyone found a better way to reattach the rear trim? I have guards on the inside of the windows that foul the trim slightly. Means the trim doesn't quite fit and comes off too easily.
I was thinking of using rivnuts instead of the little clips - anyone else tried? |

Not yet but it's my list of things to do. Those spring clips drive me mad. It'll need a spacer making to fit between the trim and the metal door frame to replace the existing spring clip and it's mount. I have in mind some 6mm nylon, cut and drilled to suit, which can be glued to the back of the trim. Darren

Wow I can’t believe the difference in amount of trim you have to remove when on a Td5 the panel just pulls off! I guess that’s all because and the seat belt mounting etc.
Thanks for posting the pictures as I’m think of a set of guards myself
