Slovakia confirmed as new Defender Plant
Disappointing news for the Midlands, had hoped production would stay in the UK.

Old news but still just as depressing as when first mentioned.

It's just not right. Indian cars should be made in England.

From what I've seen on a lot of the comments it hasn't gone down well at all.
There is also a lot of rumour of astronomical prices.

Well if it’s anything like the build quality of the Czech built Škoda it will be a big improvement.

Don't knock the Slovakian motor industry, they built over 1,000,000 cars last year for the likes of Volkswagen, Peugeot/Citroen and Kia.

Perhaps like Kia the new Defender will come with 7 year warranty, (sorry, that's me just dreaming Rolling with laughter ) Defender 90XS SW

+1 for that. I had a skoda pick up, bought new, kept it for 12 years. No issues with it whatsoever. Just normal service items. 👍

No point building the same body and chassis ,doors and so on in different country just because it has different name badge on bonnet and as LRJ has been payed 211.0000 euro as sweetener to build disco in the same place last year and parts from Poland

After thinking about it I may have to qualify the above statement. If the underlying design is poor then no matter how well they build them there will still be failures, so if the design has been carried out in the U.K. which I think it has then we may just have premature failures of systems cropping up again, for example the gearbox issues with the Puma. I really hope I’m wrong as I would like the new Defender to be a success.

Unfortunately, in my view, the reliability of the product has less to do with the geographical location of the factory and more to do with the attitude and culture of the company towards its customers. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS
