Squeaky Steering
Got a squeaky steering noise. It’s not the power steering belt, it sounds like a dry joint. I don’t recall seeing any grease nipples on any of the joints, but should there be some? Any other thoughts on what to look at?

Cheers
Col

Try a drop of oil on the steering uj's. If they're too far gone though it's replacement time.

Check that it's not the steering wheel rubbing on the steering column cover.

Still haven’t found it. Greased u/js on steering column but no better. Only happens when turning the wheel to the left, turning right is silent! Could it be the steering box? There is no evidence of an oil leak and the power steering fluid is at the right level. Where else should I be checking?

Solved. Was the steering damper seals on the compression stroke. Bit of silicon spray has it sorted but it’s a bit worrying as it’s a bilstein unit and only 6 months old. Can only think that the winter road salt has got in there and dried things out.

Exactly the same problem. After swapping the dead damper for a new one yesterday, the squeak disappeared. I always thought my power steering pump was on its way out. Laughing
