Taking the slop out of the drive line
Is there an ultimate was to achieve this? I’ve replaced the drive flanges and half shaft which has helped but there is still some movement. Is one piece the answer? I also think I have a bit of slack in the rear diff, is this normal to have some back lash and how much is too much?

What would the ultimate “no slop” driveline be made up of?

Cheers.

PS: It’s a 60,000 mile 13 plate 90.

I have Ashcroft diffs, cvs, shafts drive members and intermediate shaft and no slop!

Have another with Ashcroft cvs, shafts and dms, with very little slop.

Both on 70k miles.

Both had 20~30k miles on that setup Cheers

Everything helps, but the central atb is the most noticeable improvment.
Std central diff shims wear very quickly. Puma 110" SW

Have you got a link to the central atb? I’m not sure I’m looking at the right thing.

JST - I will be going the same route as you have, in fact most of it I have already except the CV's / front end.
I only have Ashcroft DM's on the front.

I have a centre ATB and certainly reduced the slop. No the slop shows up elsewhere...namely the rear I suspect.
ATB = good move. 1999 Defender TD5 110
