TruckLite
So just fitted the gen2 Trucklites, very impressed.

No wiring instructions with the lights so questions is, I know the two additional wires are for side lights and DRL but which is which?

Help!

Thanks

Duncan

Duncan, unfortunately I will not be anywhere near our set up until next week.

The H4 connector gives negative, positive low beam and positive main beam.

The other two wires are purple and black, may have tracer colours.

These are positive from side light and an ignition fed positive for DRL.

Just put a positive feed alternatively to the two loose wires and you will soon tell which is the DRL feed as light is much brighter.

I didnt think the Gen 2 had DRL, just sidelights. Is there a drl version? Without checking cant be certain, but I thought that on mine the two extra wires were just pos and neg for the sidelight function. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

There is a little bit of confusion now and I might have accidentally contributed as well.

Originally Truck-Lite made their standard headlight which were dip and main beam plus position/parking light. This version had a dark spot in the beam.

Truck-Lite then brought out a new improved version with an improved light pattern. Just to confuse the issue Truck-Lite kept the same product code! However they did change the packaging. So the only way to distinguish between the two versions was to look at the packaging. This was the case about 3-5 years ago when both versions were available on the market.

The above two versions were made in the US and product code 27291C

For that version the two wires would have been positive and negative for the parking light

Now Truck-Lite has brought out a new halo headlight which is made in South Korea by Signal Stat which is a division of Truck-Lite and has product code 27200C.

This version is a four function light dip and main beam, DRL and indicator.

The two wires are red and green now which one is ignition fed live and which one is indicator I can not remember

Now with this version please note you are only allowed one indicator per side at the front of a vehicle so if you use the built in indicator in the headlight then the original indicator must be disabled.

Hi Brendan

I am even more confused now. I purchased my lights from you about a month ago. So what ones do I have? I'd have to look for the box in the garage to get the code 😂😂😂 I have a black and purple wire I think?

Confused

The two version look quite different I think. You can view them on a Brendan’s website and should be able to tell which you have 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Correct.

Lights which are separate DRL's or DRL's incorporated in a combined light unit will have the light function code RL marked on them.

Rather than start a new thread I thought I should ask the question here...

I also have these trucklite headlights and I want to have the "park/position/side" lights come on with the ignition.

Is this possible and if so how complicated is it? Is it a case of simply connecting up the purple and black wires to an earth and ignition live point or will I need to fuse it, or use a drl controller?

And lastly does anyone know if theres a kit I could buy?

Cheers

I connected the Trucklite v2 purple wire to the black negative/earth (from the sidelights I believe) and the Trucklite v2 black wire to the red live. The DRL now works fine as per the photo below. No need for a DRL controller. The DRL light is fairly small, just a few small LED's, but does the job. (ps. ignore the long terminal block, I used it just to test!)

I believe mine were V1’s, I had to use a shorting link in replace of the dim dip relay (300tdi) to get full features, I now have DRL, dipped, main all with sidelights.

Does the DRL function work with the ignition on or only once you switch on the side & main lights?
