Defender recall letter
Anyone else get one today?

A recall because transfer box oil has leaked onto the handbrake caliper (or whatever it is) causing some to fail.

Affects all Pumas by the looks of it!

Going to get my clutch and vent blower checked at the same time as taking it in. TBH anything that might improve the handbrake would be welcome!! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

What rd said. Thus is the second recall (in fact is it the third for some vehicles?)

I was told yesterday by the senior mechanic at a dealer that there is"likely" to be a recall for the fuel filter housing as it's causing issues on a number of vehicles

Well after a rather annoying start (I checked the forum for similar threads and found none) of playing "ooooh isn't he silly" a couple of you have come up with some useful replies - cheers for that. Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

Fish - I trawled through many pages just in case - didn't see anything. Otherwise I wouldn't have "dared" share such potentially useful info... Wink

Yep - poor surf not good after a massive wave fest. Did 32 miles on the MTB instead - hard riding all the way and I'm not fecked! The 110 is a very handy MTB carrying wagon! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.

32 miles that's some going, good work. I've been hiking with the dogs probably 20 miles this week + some dirt biking yesterday to refuel my stoke.

Pleasantly surprised my motor bike fits inside the car ! couldn't believe it when i wheeled it up the plank and it went straight in pretty pleased now as i don't need the trailer ! Handlebars cleared the roof by at leased half a foot. 110 HT TD5 - 110 XS SW Puma

I remember when this issue first arose,I checked the VIN number of my vehicle against those in the recall range and I was outside it. A few weeks ago I received a recall notice for this very problem. Personally I think they got all the suspect vehicles attended to first and then checked the rest. I left mine until I had a service due.At this stage I would not worry about it-I did'nt. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Well it's booked in for next week anyway.

Getting this checked/done but also asked them to look at the clutch (rattly when idling, goes when you depress it but only intermittently) and vent blower:

1 - nothing
2 - nothing
3 - ARRRGHHH - HURRICANE! Defender 110XS SW gone... now VW California 180 4 Motion.
