Overhaul manual and torque for P38 type rear diff

I've got some ATB diff centres to put in my 300Tdi 110.

Front diff is no problem but there doesn't appear to be an overhaul manual or any torque settings for the short-nose P38 type rear diff, as fitted in the post 2002 vehicles (mine is a 2006). The short nose diff is just listed as a non serviceable part by Land Rover.

What I'd like to be able to confirm is the torque for the crownwheel bolts (which I think will be the same as the std diff as I believe they are the same size) plus the torque for the bearing end caps (which may not be), and also whether there's any difference to the diff backlash setup that is given in the older workshop manuals for the long-nose diff.

There may be no manual published externally but somewhere there must at least exist a set of values used in the original assembly. I'm beginning to think I'll just need to use the info for the early diff (which will probably be fine), as all enquiries so far have drawn a blank, but thought I would try on here.

Any chance you could let me have a copy please? I searched for weeks for precisely this information without success and ended up using the figures for the standard Rover-type diff. I'd prefer to have the right figures for the next diff build.

2008 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Zermatt Silver

Bringing up this old thread, on overhauling short-nose / P38 differential, as I have been looking for this information for hours today, before I start taking mine appart.

The only place I could find relevant and comprehensive info is in the Puma MY2012 Workshop Manual (page 228 to 236). Be warned that there is no such info in the Puma MY2007 WS Manual, even though the same diff was used on 110/130 rear axles.

To be noted : Bearing cap bolts are M16 and torqued up to 180NM (vs M12 and 90NM for the Rover Diff)

It's covered in the TD5 WSM (publication number LRL 0410BB) and the relevant section is or used to be downloadable from the Ashcroft Transmissions website, as I recall.

Good to know that the dimwits at JLR remembered to put it back in the 2.2 WSM after forgetting about it in the 2.4 manual.
