That discussion could go on for ever. LS3 is tried and tested now and loads of support out there, I did ask Ian about an install but he is still at prototype stage. Plus the LS3 looks better Laughing
I am just doing it for the fun but I plan to have this one on the dyno and tweak it a little more than the last one. Andy

Well I will still be very envious! Can't wait to follow the actual conversion process, if you would be so kind to post. James

does anyone know how the costs compare LS3 vs Coyotte ?

if it eliminates the need to keep replacing adapter shafts I might be able to push it through the finance committee on the basis it's an investment Mr. Green

.....just don't mention the reduction in mpg Big Cry

looking forward to the photos please.

Parts for the LS3 come to around 17k. Then labour.

The coyote engine is 10k compared to the LS3 at 5.5k but I don’t know anymore about it as no one has a definite package now and I reckon by the time they develop and test it will be a 35k conversion if not more.

If we were talking about a drag strip tyre spinning vehicle I think you would investigate other engines etc but in a classic defender I reckon its a waste of time. You will be dead in day if you tried to take a country road on in a converted defender, it’s more about the rumbling about with the auto box that’s the appeal to me.

I pumped 95k into my last LS3 but I am trying to keep this one substantially less. Big Cry Andy

I'm with you there Andy with the rumble of the V8 and with the reliability of the LS3 but i would have a Manuel gearbox Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

That is a lot of £££££ but if i had a chance to go down that route, i still would put a manual box in Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper.

I wouldn't want an LS3 with my manual box!! You'd double your 0-60 time! Shocked James

When you take the Puma engine out you'll need a way of getting the engine information up on the instrument pack Smile  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

IMHO the "lazy" 6.2L LS3 would be all over a Coyote 5L in a Defender.
I'd also be going for the 6 sp auto GM box that matches beautifully with the LS3.
I've had plenty of V8s, all manual, until We bought a Monaro with an LS engine & Auto,..after that never had another manual.
The LS3 is such a lazy "torquey" engine, it just has so much "everywhere" ya just don't lose anything with the auto, just sit back, enjoy, & let the engine do the work. This ain't the same with all V8s, but the LS3 is just such a great engine, in a Defender, an LS3 auto, properly installed, would not leave you wanting anywhere.
Just IMHO of course, the best idea would be to drive or ride in a PROPERLY installed & sorted example of each yourself, and see what suits you.
Pickles.

No idea, I have ordered the full install kit from Wildcat as they used before with a few tweaks so I assume it’s covered Andy
