I'm trying to remove the heater air intake box to gain more access to the windshield washer pipes -- blocked non-return valve needs replacing. This is the plastic box that connects the wing-top vent to the heater fan.
I'm having a really hard time getting the air intake box out, got all the screws from the wing, and removed the support strut. But there just don't seem to be enough clearance: at the front it hits the air-conditioner piping, at the back: the heater box, and at the bottom: the support strut mount. ![]() Any ideas how to get this air box out? Also realised that I'm missing the gasket mentioned here: https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic12547...heater+box But I'll only get to that if the air box budges! |

I have tried reaching in to the gap, but it is very tight for me (big hands maybe?) Also, the tubes for the windscreen washer on barely reach the top of the wing. Worried that if I drop the tube, I'll never be able to fish it out...

Hi again, we had to Finish our heat shot installation today, and also had to access the top bolts for our door check straps.
Even though I have very large hands I can get mine in that gap with some wiggling. Took a picture for you, you can clearly see the washer pipe going through the bulkhead. On ours it was easy to pull this up, and get the pipe out to find the link connection where the one way valve is. ![]() Click image to enlarge |
