defender 110 td5 2003 major electrical problems.
Hi.

I have problems with electrics.

After carwash heater blower and wipers stopped working, after that abs, traction control and dash lights went off.

If I adjust heater fan speed when light switch is off -> dash lights comes on. Light switch on similar dash behavior doesn't appear.

Light switch and blinker switch seams ok.

It burns fuse number 20 when I operate light switch.

I have couple possible ideas :
Heater blower motor is dead, bad grounding or wiper motor.

Do you have ideas to help me?

Juuso from Finland

Check your fuse box for water incursion, also check under the seat at the ECUs and relays for water incursion. 2010 Range Rover MkIII Autobiography Super Charged (Idris)

If the heater drain plug is blocked it could be that the heater air intake filled with water and got into the motor causing it to stall.
This happened to mine, fortunately l realised before the motor burnt out, but it did smell a bit.

Both fuseboxes are dry and in good condition, also drainplug is ok and blower motor is dry.

Any other suggestions?

I added alternative earthing point (chassis -> bulkhead). earthing point from battery to chassis was ok.
I did measure all earthing points and they were ok.

I checked that blower motor is functional applying current straight from battery.

when testing blower motor from inside (wire from black to green connector) dash lights were glowing. When I removed fuse number 18 and 19 glow got weaker. I put fuses back and glow got brighter.

I measured all fuse block slots for shot circuit and all ok.

am I missing something?
