I’m new on here but spent more years than I can remember with 300tdis. If you fit a Continental branded belt these have a fine serrated surface to the smooth side of the belt and will prevent the power steering pulley from slipping on the belt in the wet.

High mileage 300s benefit greatly from replacing all pulleys - they wear over the years and the ridges develop a sharp profile which starts to cut into the belt.
