I've just got an Ultragauge Blue (from WindyJ on here - thanks its great!) anyway have 2 questions:
Question 1 - for those with an Ultragauge/Scangauge what are you routinely monitoring (and why) and what alarms have you set? Question 2 - more exciting question - how accurate are the HP and torque readings as the Hp gauge maxs out at 170hp and the torque at about 420. Bought MY58 2.4 3rd hand - 2nd owner didn't remap it, no idea bout 1st owner - but he was a titled racing driver... Would like to know as thinking about remap (BAS), but of course would have to OK cost with Mrs M90. Regards to all  |

I’m not to clued up on this, but I thought you had to set your max engine hp and torque on the ultragauge?

Inlet air temperature (up to a point where everything's too hot it's basically ambient air temperature), engine temperature, UG volts (seems to be more accurate than the ECM volts), RPM, speed (matches the GPS, not the speedo), short trip distance (i.e. distance since starting).
I used to get it to calculate fuel economy and range but the fuel economy isn't that accurate, particularly when you go off roading or are in traffic, and the range is based on the UG guessing how much fuel is in the tank because it can't read accurately. That leads to you having a wildly inflated range figure when you want it the least - when you're in the middle of nowhere off road. I have alarms set for RPM over 4000, engine temperature (over 98 I think, but that was a guess when I did it), I can't remember anything else. I have a second page for things like mass air flow and fuel pressure but I never look at them. |
