Nice! But it’s a 2a, not a 101 - could be a great looking thing when it’s finished!

That photo of the blue vehicle with red rims isn't a FC101? Now I'm confused 😖 Confused James

And this is a 2b forward control - awesome vehicle (I’m massively biased obviously!!)

I always assumed the blue one was an earlier or later model of the FC101? Is it not? James

No, very different beasts! 2a forward control was a purely civilian vehicle adapted from normal 109”. It evolved into 2b with major change to axles. A few where used by the military as Fire Engines but otherwise no real military sales (in UK).

The 101 was specifically designed for military use and never sold on civilian market. Final version share nothing with earlier 2a or 2b.

Both have their pros and cons, if you ever get a chance have a go in one!

Very old photo of mine, on the left a 101 (long since sold), one the right a 2a (ex factory vehicle, lots of interesting bits but that’s for another time. Safely tucked away)

Thank you for the lesson, much appreciated.

Both lovely vehicles, must admit never been in either. Must be quite strange siting so high and forward, especially over the brow of a steep bank? James

Did that come from Staffordshire way, by any chance? Would have been 15+ years back.

There's some old boys who restered one, the last time I went past they had a Humber Pig (?) in the yard being attended to.

Steep inclines were a bit disconcerting at times Snigger , especially when they're empty and start to bunnyhop at the back end. Excuse the mucky windscreen and poor light Whistle

 Cheers

When I used to drive my mates 2b ex airstrip fire engine it was always the lack of steering that made me nervous Rolling with laughter don’t know if this was the case with them all but you had a put a lot of work in to get not much movement from the wheels. Ray

The 101 was not to bad. Fairly heavy at low speed but you needed to be rolling. Cracking turning circle though, better than a 90 at a tad over 11 meters Cheers
