You don't need to take the dash out to replace the aerial but you will need to remove the radio and probably the centre panel. It is an easy job.

A common technique is to cut the wire at the old aerial and use it gently to pull the new aerial's cable through the the radio.

I’m with VS, my father still has his Ariel bike from when he was 15/16, so 55 years ago! A 350cc, sticky throttle, Red Hunter. Very pretty bike, I’ll have to get a pic
