New Battery
Hi folks
My battery has finally died, despite being on a ctek. During the recent cold snap it would not turnover enough to start.
So the big question is which one do I go for..... and will the 100amp hour be enough umpth ... as halfords do a bosch and with the trade discount card it's about 130 quid...

Any thoughts greatly appreciated. Steve

I don't really think you can beat the original factory spec battery.
They last many many years. Thumbs Up Diesel$ Live$ Matter. ⛽️🛢️👨‍🔧🧰⚙️ RED, WHITE & BOOST! 🇬🇧

After some extensive research, I went for a Numax C31-1000 120ah battery.

Was about £109 from www.tanya.co.uk IIRC.

Thanks guys, Dobby & gilarion does the numax C31 one fit under the seat on a 2011 110, the reason I ask is that when you put your registration number in it comes back with a smaller size battery. Steve

Numax for me, have them either as singles of twin setups on 3xlr, mower, tractor the lot! Used to run them on off roaders too for challenge events. They are good and reliable. Cheers

Have a look at tayna batteries, a good choice and keenly priced. I recently bought one off them. Yuasa 100ah 900cca, £114 delivered Thumbs Up

Search 019 type batteries on Tayna, and double check the dimensions.
LR spec is for a 870 cca battery.

Local motor factors and a tape measure is all you need. Just buy the biggest one that will fit in the space.

Great ideas lads, I'll measure twice and cut (no sorry) buy once Very Happy Very Happy , isn't that what they say with all good diy projects ..
It looks like the general opinion is for numax which seem to be rated pretty good... Steve

Well, mine has packed up tonight.

Took it off the CTek charger which said it was all A1 and drove it about 7 miles. Parked up and about two hours later whir whiirr clicky clicky.

It's a 5 year old Yuasa. It played up a couple of weeks ago hence the CTek charger. I know the output from the alternator is good.

More to the point what spec battery is a 300Tdi supposed to have in terms of rating as I can't find it in the haynes book of ... 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.

I believe the 300TDi is a bit smaller. The TD5 and newer had a 019 size.

I use the Varta Silver Dynamic (Varta make the original one but that's not necessarily saying much) bought from Tayna.

After the normal battery replacements that i had over the years, i finally had enough and splashed out on an Odyssey battery and has been spot on and with the extra crank start, it starts up so quick every time, i'm well pleased with it as it has been on since December 2014 Very Happy 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Two 019s fit comfortably in a 300Tdi battery box. Got a 110Ah Varta for starting and a second 110Ah Varta leisure for the fridge, windscreen, etc. Each was under £100 and lasting very well. Mind you my previous battery was 19 years old... Ed
