Awwww look at that a real-life BFG Trac-Edge.... Loved these tyres too. As you say just the perfect compromise.

Had those on my very first 90, great tyre. Wasn't the only reason they stopped making them because they lasted too long? James

Ah, the Trac Edge! Had them on my old Stage 1 and the Discovery that replaced it. Cracking tyre (if you ignore the hum at 40-ish Laughing ). Darren

Kinda. As you can see folks really liked the intermediate tyre and sales of the MT and AT of the day were suffering. Consequently the MT has become a little more mild mannered, the AT has become a little more aggressive, so no need for the intermediate tyre anymore.

It really was a great tyre, good center pattern, meaty side lugs and for the time a good amount of sipping as well. All of which made it a good all round tyre...

Incidentally do not be fooled in to thinking the Insa Turbo version will be as good... it... is... NOT...! Rolling Eyes

Got to agree there - had a set on a Range Rover Classic in the early 1990’s
