[Wanted] lt230 transfer box 1.22
Still not done this yet, and due to less towing and extra motorway miles feel it is about time I did Whistle
Would like a lowish miles lt230 transfer box with diff lock. I also know there are many previous threads, but to surmise my understanding most lt230 boxes will fit, just depends on diff lock, and the handbrake cable attachment. Seen a few from Tdi's, marked 28D Is this a simple bolt on ??? Any advice appreciated. Would prefer to do myself, as I do all other maintenance Although Ashcrofts mightb end up being could be a cost option Whistle

I know this is an old thread, but did you go through with the alteration?

I am in a similar boat.

Dave informed me the best option is to take the nose off the 28D and install it onto a 69D case. I had both for i didnt pay attention for the 4wd lock

This way get the newer quiet gear set with the 4wd lock option.

I will then install an external oil cooler and pump so when i am at speed my TC fluid doesnt cook.

41d box has difflock and has the same gears as the 69d so nice a quiet. Only need to change the rear output housing for the speedodrive. I did this to my td5 hardtop. Looking to do the same with the CSW or a roamer drive.

Well worth it, I also was advised by fellow members a couple of Years ago.

What I will say is without a mild remap it felt sluggish pulling away but did improve the motorway experience.
