Alko hitch on a Defender!
I am looking at getting a Dixon Bate Universal coupling but just spotted this http://www.dixonbate.co.uk/towing/product.asp?PartNo=202113 which enables you to put on an Alko Stabaliser on also which most caravans have these days. Would be useful if we go back to caravanning BUT they are tricky to use with a lot of 4x4's as the rear spare wheel gets in the way of the stabalizer and so cannot be used!

Anyone use an Alko on a Defender?

I do, with no probs hitching up. The spare wheel isn't really an issue as you can leave the rear door open whilst you tie up as there is about 6 inches of clearance between the door and the front locker on the van. Since fitting the Nakatanenga spare wheel carrier hitching up has definitely become easier.
