What’s this worth?
Found this for sale. Has original documents and service book too! Needs a total rebuild. Chassis is scrap, bulkhead very poor, interior very dirty. Only missing bits are front bumper and dynamo.

Any ideas? I really want to restore this!

Ok. The auction estimate is 1000 - 1500. What struck me when I viewed it was how straight the panels were.

It has been in a barn for 10 years. I’m going to go to the auction tomorrow and see what happens. 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

A shame it’s been let go as it looks quite straight and original, new chassis and bulkhead would get you off to a flying start.

It wouldn't surprise me if it fetches above guide price. I personally agree with the valuations mentioned above but sooooo many people are dipping their toes into Land Rover ownership with very little knowledge. This is what's made the market so volatile in recent years. Looks nice, straight and original and will no doubt be a lovely Land Rover when done. I haven't really answered your question but I'll sum up by saying that series Land Rovers and later through to Defender, are not really worth what they're worth. Initially that statement doesn't really make sense but I think you might know what I mean. 2006 TD5110 station wagon

Yes I am pretty sure chassis and bulkhead will be bad. I’m currently doing Sums based on a new galv chassis and a refurbed galved bulkhead. I’m reckoning 2.5k for those alone.

Front panel is good under the crap. Bonnet is good, as is it’s frame underneath. Rear tub is remarkably good. A little galvanic corrosion on the front tub to chassis mounts. Door frames are good, tops not so good.

Interior is complete but seats need total refurb. Miles are 55k and lots of history says it’s genuine.

Engine is a diesel, and there is plenty of oil on the chassis around the engine and gearbox. No idea how good the mechanicals are. It steers and rolls if you push it!

I have no doubt it’s a lot of work. I did do a new chassis rebuild on my lwb 2a in 2003, also rebuilt the engine and gearbox.

I am thinking £5k to spend to do an ‘oily rag’ restoration. I love the patina look! No respray if I do this! 2021 Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE D300 MHEV

HG is a Burnley registration so it has not come far.

I restored a F plate 88 in 1990. The bulkhead was similarly shot. Without access to a lot of free welding it would have not been economic to do otherwise. The chassis varied from perfect by the oily engine to powder on the outriggers. This one might depend on how much fertiliser has sprayed over it. 1995 Defender 110 CSW

I think that would clean/polish up really well. Nice and original; even the floor mats. Finding one that has not been messed around with is increasingly difficult.

The bulkhead doesn't look too bad from the (admittedly not great) photos. Needs pillars and footwells? Not the end of the world.

A new chassis, bulkhead restoration and any necessary mechanical refurb is still a lot of work though, so don't get carried away!

Diesels tend not to be as popular as petrols so will keep the value slightly lower. Looks great with period sign writing etc, I’d be surprised if it went for less than £2k with fees etc.

Let's have some bets...

I reckon it'll go for a lot MORE than two grand. As my old cockney Granny used to say about crims and nutters: "There's more out than in"
