For what it's worth my D5 is about 18 months old got about 21k of hard work miles lots of heavy towing and it's not missed a beat. 130's have feeling's as well you know

Why not the D4. Great looks, most niggles sorted, does everything you want, you stay in the LR family, it’ll never be ‘bling’ and in my opinion, given the reaction to the D5, it’ll become a collector’s classic of the future. .

A D4 is on the list but a mate just had a FSH 32k minter spin a shell and snapped crankshaft. LR won’t pay and he is left with an £8k bill. Local indie sees enough with the same issue on top of warped manifolds, blown turbos and front wishbones needing re- bushed regularly. Body off for some of the jobs which adds £750 to the invoice. They still scare me on bills. 1951 80" S1 2.0

I’m looking at a D4 again for the same reasons - the only thing I’d do differently with another one is buy an aftermarket warranty.

I'd buy the Land Cruiser Utility with a manual gearbox over a Discovery 4/5. Nothing wrong with its image.
About 74k euro over here, unfortunately... |

I was very precise when I included the word 'most'  .

why not go for the D5 as their will be a good warrantee on the vehicle and it will give you time to see how it goes ... if its ok then take on the extended warrantee and have peace of mind!
my partner had one and she loves it ... she moved up from a D4 to the D5 .. but not offloaded it yet but that is on the cards very soon ! I know but that thing commands a £10k premium over the ones that are 5 years younger and it’s £520 a year tax stinger.

Saw the same ad for the LC200 and had same thoughts about Nene.
Driven the new LC Active auto. Really liked it, better than a 110 on the road in so many ways. Only downside was load space. Getting seriously tempted by the Hilux for longer trips and keep the 110 for uk. |

Was that with the two seats in the back. I think they fold flat now but it does still take room up. In the past they appeared to fold up each side and robbed the boot of room. The utility has 5 seats only and a deeper boot I think. 1951 80" S1 2.0

It had 7 seats, rear 2 folded flat into the floor. With 5 seats you would have more depth. It all depends how much stuff you take on your travels. You could always use a roof rack.
We need the space for dogs, so need a bigger load area. Have a test drive and see what you think. The V8 is also worth a test drive. That did feel very big both on the inside and on the road. Felt bombproof as well! |
