It might depend on what car you have, whether there are already holes drilled to take the lower mounting bolts.
I fitted a pair easily enough - once I'd had the 'doh' or 'eureka' moment - depending on your point of view. When I first put one up against the window, I thought: "how am I going to get my hand in there to tighten the bolts?" But of course I was using the offside guard in the nearside window. If you try it, you'll see what I mean. I think I put some pics on my 'tinkering' thread below. (Edit - yep, just a couple, on the 3rd page, but might be helpful) Basically, the top linings need to be out to give access to the upper roof to side bolts. These should line up nicely with the upper bracket for the guard. If your car has existing holes under the window, then they should match up too. Mine didn't so I had to fit the top ones; mark where the holes should go at the bottom; remove the top ones again; drill; refit. Not at all difficult once I'd realised they were sided... Thanks for that. Looks like you did a nice neat job. What did you use to put in the holes you drilled for the bottom fixings? This is the first car I've ever had a go at doing things to so it's a learning curve!

I think you could just put a nut/bolt through it, but I used a 'rivnut'.
It's just a collapsible nut, works on the same principle as a pop rivet, but you're left with the threaded section. You need to have the rivnuts themselves, and a tool to set them, though there are other ways to do it. I guess I did it just because I could. I have the tool, and the nuts, and it seemed neater! Like I say, I think you could easily use just a nut and bolt. You might need to be careful that you didnt overtighten that, and distort the sides. Or use some sort of packing piece in between them. I have the rear guard fitted - and I'm about to fit an upper level brake light. I think I'll just modify the grill slightly by judicious use of a jigsaw. I can't see that it will particulary compromise the effectiveness of the guard. FWIW. Donald
